Offline POS

Offline POS for Egypt: the internet drops, the till keeps selling

In Egypt the connection tends to go at the worst moment: the lunch rush, a busy Thursday night. Ordrun handles that two ways. Ordrun Lite runs entirely offline on one device. Ordrun Cloud, for restaurants with several tills or branches, keeps selling through an outage and syncs without duplicates when the network is back.

Why an offline POS matters in Egypt

If your till waits for a server before it prints, every outage means a stalled queue, or pen and paper and a cash count that doesn't add up. An offline POS saves the order on the device and prints from it, so the internet becomes a convenience, not a requirement. The real question is what keeps working and what waits for the connection.

Ordrun Lite: fully offline, on the device

Lite doesn't need the internet to run. Selling, printing, shifts, stock and reports live on the device. A connection is only used to activate the licence (or our team activates it for you offline) and to fetch updates while support is active. The trade-off: one device per licence, and reports stay on that device, with no dashboard on your phone.

  • Café mode: tables, open tabs, options like size and milk, and bar tickets on a second printer.
  • Market mode: barcode selling, scale barcodes, retail and wholesale prices (wholesale with Pro).
  • Blind cash count at shift close, with voids and discounts logged per cashier.
  • Encrypted backups to a file, plus a recovery code you keep.
  • Runs on a Windows PC (Android and iPad: ask us first), in Arabic and English.

Ordrun Cloud: tills keep selling, the kitchen runs on the branch network

Cloud is for restaurants with more than one till or branch. The data lives on the server, but the till doesn't wait for it: with offline mode on, tills keep taking orders, payments and printing, and each order is saved on the device. Orders from the outage appear in back office reports once the tills sync.

  • Kitchen screens (KDS) find the till on the branch's local network and keep receiving tickets.
  • When the network returns, orders sync in sequence, and the server never creates a duplicate.
  • If a till goes down mid-payment, it asks to resume or discard, so nothing is entered twice.

Which one should you pick?

One shop, one till, no appetite for a monthly bill? Ordrun Lite. Several tills, kitchen screens, delivery drivers or more than one branch? Ordrun Cloud. Running on tables and open tabs in one place? Lite has tables; Cloud has no table map yet.

Pricing and the free trial

Ordrun Lite is a one-time licence from 3,000 EGP; add a year of updates and support for 4,000 EGP. When support ends the app keeps working, only updates stop. Ordrun Cloud is a monthly plan from 1,800 EGP. Lite has a 30-day free trial and Cloud a 30-day one, both with no card (on Cloud, on plans that include one).

How to get started

Signing up takes minutes.

  • Lite: create an account, download the app and your trial key from the portal, pick café or market mode, and start selling. No internet needed after that.
  • Cloud: sign up, set up your menu and branches in the back office (or import from Excel), and our team switches on offline mode for your tills.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a POS that works with no internet at all?

Yes, Ordrun Lite. Everything runs on the device; the internet is only for activation and updates.

If the internet drops on Cloud, are orders lost or duplicated?

No. Each order is saved on the till that took it and syncs in sequence when the network returns. The server never records the same order twice.

Does the kitchen display work without internet?

On Cloud, yes: screens and till share the branch's local network, so the kitchen keeps receiving tickets while the internet is down, as long as the router is on. Lite has no kitchen screen; it prints bar tickets, and with Pro shows an order board on the till.

What stops working on Cloud during an outage?

Promo codes, delivery orders and branch handover, online payments, and editing orders placed online. Dine-in and takeaway selling carries on.

If my Lite device breaks, is my data gone?

Not if you back up. Lite writes encrypted backups on demand or automatically at day close, restorable on a new device with your recovery code. Keep a copy on a USB stick; our team moves the licence.

Does it send e-receipts to the Egyptian Tax Authority?

Not yet. Neither Ordrun Lite nor Ordrun Cloud submits e-receipts to the ETA today, and we can't promise a date. You get a printed receipt with the tax broken down, and receipt data is stored so the link can be added later. If you're already required to issue e-receipts, talk to us before buying.
