Talabat commission for restaurants in Egypt: how it's worked out
Talabat doesn't publish a commission rate for Egypt: neither its Egypt partner page nor its restaurant terms give one. Your rate is in the agreement you sign with them. What the terms do publish is how the commission is calculated, and that changes what each order really leaves you. Here it is, clause by clause, with a worked example you can redo with your own rate.
How much does Talabat take from a restaurant?
There is no published rate for Egypt. Talabat's partner page explains what the commission pays for (its delivery partners, the platform, cashless payment costs, marketing and customer service) but gives no percentage. Its restaurant terms say the commission is set in the Letter of Agreement (LOA) each restaurant signs. So the real answer is the number in your LOA. If you don't have one yet, these are the published estimates we could trace to a named, dated source:
- Enterprise, 13 October 2021, citing Oye Labs: Talabat charges a 15–25% commission on the restaurant's order bill.
- Menuthere, a company that sells online ordering and POS software, on a page marked as checked in October 2026: roughly 15% to 25% of the order value, based on other software companies' guides. It also says Talabat doesn't publish its rate in Egypt.
- These are those sources' estimates, not Talabat's rates. Yours may be lower or higher, so do the sums with your own number.
What you pay Talabat, item by item
Talabat's published Egypt terms name these charges. The amounts are in your LOA, not in the terms:
- A one-time registration fee, collected when you sign up. The partner page says it covers account setup and a free photo session. The amount isn't published.
- A monthly subscription fee, which the terms define as a recurring monthly lump sum. Check whether your LOA has one, and how much it is.
- Commission and fees: a percentage of the Total Order Value. By the terms' own definition this includes payment-provider (PSP) charges, Talabat's commission and any other fees. Ask whether card fees are inside your rate or on top of it.
- The tablet: the partner page says Talabat gives you a tablet with its order software. The terms say that, where your LOA includes devices, Talabat provides them "as a custody" in return for a payment stated in the LOA (clause 11.1). They stay Talabat's property unless Talabat says otherwise in writing, and you hand them back when the agreement ends (11.3 and 11.4).
- Tax: amounts in the terms and the LOA are VAT-exclusive (5.9), and the restaurant is liable for any taxes on Talabat's services (5.10). Check whether VAT is added to the commission on your statement.
- Changes: Talabat can amend the terms, the LOA and the fee structure. A change takes effect 30 days after Talabat emails you (18.10).
What the commission is charged on
These parts of the terms decide what an order really costs you:
- The whole order, not just the food. The terms define Total Order Value as the order value including the delivery fees and any other charges paid by the customer, before any partial refund. So the percentage is charged on the delivery fee too.
- Refunds don't reduce it. If you refund a customer in full or in part because of your own mistake, such as a missing item, the commission is still calculated on the full original amount (clause 6.12).
- Cancellations you cause. If a customer cancels because of the restaurant's fault, Talabat may refund them in full and pay compensation. The compensation, delivery fees and commission are then charged to you on the monthly invoice (6.13(a)).
- Delays. EGP 30 per order for each delay of 10 minutes or more (6.13(b)). Talabat uses it to compensate customers.
- Suspension limits. Among the reasons the terms list for pausing your account: cancellations you cause pass 3% over 7 consecutive days, your average time to respond to an order passes 3 minutes over 7 consecutive days, or your average handover to the rider passes 5 minutes (7.1).
A worked example: if your rate were 20%
20% is an assumption to make the sums clear, not Talabat's rate. Put the rate from your LOA in its place. Take a food order of EGP 400, and a EGP 30 delivery fee paid by the customer. The commission is charged on EGP 430, so 20% is EGP 86, not EGP 80. That is 21.5% of your food price. An order in your own shop pays no commission, but it has its own costs: the space and the staff. And with Talabat's riders, you don't pay a driver. The table shows only the commission and the charges in the terms, before any VAT; add your own costs to finish the comparison.
| Order in your shop | Talabat order | |
|---|---|---|
| Food | EGP 400 | EGP 400 |
| Delivery fee paid by the customer | None | EGP 30 |
| Amount the commission is charged on | No commission | EGP 430 |
| Commission at 20% | None | EGP 86 |
| Left from the food price after commission | EGP 400 | EGP 314 |
| Commission as a share of the food price | None | 21.5% |
| If you refund EGP 60 for a missing item | EGP 340 left | Commission stays EGP 86; EGP 254 left |
| If the order is 10 or more minutes late | No charge | EGP 30 more; EGP 284 left |
When the money reaches you
Talabat's two pages say different things. The partner page says: "You will receive payments from talabat every 3 weeks." The terms describe a monthly cycle: a statement within 5 business days after the month ends, 5 business days for you to object, then the net amount transferred within 10 business days starting from the 10th of the following month, after commission and fees are deducted (5.4 and 5.5). If what you owe Talabat is more than what it collected for you, you pay the difference within 7 business days after that review period ends (5.6). Your LOA is what applies, so ask your account manager and get the date in writing.
Who delivers: your drivers or Talabat's riders?
The terms describe two set-ups. Under the Ordering Service, Talabat shows your menu, takes the order and offers online payment and cash on delivery, and you deliver with your own drivers within the delivery time. The terms add that no third party other than you may deliver. Under Talabat Go, Talabat's riders, from delivery companies Talabat chooses, collect from you, deliver and collect the cash. The partner page describes the rider set-up, with a delivery radius of a 15-minute drive from your shop. If you deliver yourself and the customer pays cash, the cash stays with you and you still owe Talabat its commission (5.3), so read your statement closely. Ask what rate applies to each set-up; it's in the LOA.
Count your Talabat orders in your own till
Talabat's statement shows what it collected and what it deducted. To set those orders against the rest of your business, they need to be in your own till too. On Ordrun Cloud you can add an order type called "Talabat" and ring each Talabat order into the till by hand. Then:
- The kitchen screen gets it like any other order, so the kitchen sees it in the same queue as the rest.
- Stock is deducted for it, on plans with inventory (Growth and up).
- The sales-by-order-type report shows Talabat sales on their own, next to the rest of your business, so you can set them against Talabat's statement.
- To be clear: this is manual entry. Ordrun has no integration with Talabat, and orders don't arrive by themselves. The same works for elmenus or any other app, with one order type for each.
Your own delivery channel, beside the apps
Talabat brings you customers you might not reach on your own. So the useful question is often not whether to leave, but where your regulars order from. Your own channel is a phone line or call centre, your own drivers and, if you want one, an ordering app with your name on it. Work out the cost per order on both channels with your own numbers:
- On Talabat: your rate × the Total Order Value (delivery fee included), plus any VAT your statement adds, plus the delay charges and refunds that fall on you, plus any monthly fee divided by your Talabat orders.
- On your own channel: drivers' pay and fuel divided by deliveries, plus the phone line and call-centre staff divided by orders, plus your software subscription divided by orders, plus what you spend to bring customers in. The delivery fee your customer pays brings that total down.
- Ordrun Cloud runs this channel: the call centre sends each order to the right branch, the delivery fee comes from zones you draw on a map, and the Dispatch app assigns drivers and settles their cash. Delivery zones and dispatch start with the Growth plan.
- Ordrun App gives a brand its own ordering app and website with a loyalty programme. Today it runs beside the till, so its orders don't reach the kitchen screen by themselves.
- Mind clause 9.4 of Talabat's terms: you, your staff and anyone you contract with may not market your own ordering service or other channels through Talabat's services, platform, riders or delivery. A flyer with your number or app code in a Talabat order bag may fall under that, so ask Talabat before you try it. Build your channel from your shop's customers, your phone line and social media instead.

Frequently asked questions
What commission does Talabat charge restaurants in Egypt?
Talabat doesn't publish a rate for Egypt; yours is in your Letter of Agreement (LOA). Published estimates put it at 15–25%: Enterprise in 2021, citing Oye Labs, and Menuthere on a page checked in October 2026. Those are estimates, not Talabat's rates.
Is Talabat's commission charged on the delivery fee?
Per Talabat's published Egypt terms, yes. Commission is a percentage of the Total Order Value, which is defined to include delivery fees and any other charges the customer pays. At 20%, a EGP 400 food order with a EGP 30 delivery fee costs EGP 86 in commission, not EGP 80.
If I refund a customer, does the commission go down?
Not when the refund is down to your mistake. Clause 6.12 says commission is calculated on the full original amount of the order, whatever you refund. If a customer cancels because of the restaurant's fault, the compensation, delivery fees and commission are charged to you (6.13(a)).
What does Talabat charge for a late order?
The terms set EGP 30 per order for each delay of 10 minutes or more (6.13(b)). Separately, among other reasons, Talabat can pause your account if your average handover to the rider passes 5 minutes, or if cancellations you cause pass 3% over 7 consecutive days (7.1).
When does Talabat pay restaurants?
The partner page says every 3 weeks. The terms describe a monthly statement, then a transfer within 10 business days starting from the 10th of the following month. The two don't match, so the date in your LOA is the one that applies.
How much is Talabat's registration fee?
It isn't published. The partner page says it's a one-time fee covering account setup and a photo session, and you show proof of payment with your documents. The amount is set in your LOA, as are any monthly fee and any payment for the devices.
Is Ordrun integrated with Talabat?
No. Ordrun has no integration with Talabat, elmenus or any delivery app, and it isn't a Talabat partner. On Ordrun Cloud you can add a "Talabat" order type and ring those orders in by hand, so the kitchen screen, the sales-by-order-type report and, on plans with inventory, stock count them.
Can I put my phone number or app in Talabat orders?
Clause 9.4 of Talabat's terms bars the restaurant, its staff and anyone it contracts with from marketing their own ordering service or other channels through Talabat's services, platform, riders or delivery. Read your agreement and ask Talabat first. It's safer to build your channel from your shop's customers, your phone line and social media.
