Ordrun vs Odoo

Looking for an Odoo POS alternative? Ordrun vs Odoo for restaurants in Egypt

Odoo is a full business system with a Point of Sale app that has a restaurant mode. Ordrun is built only for restaurants, cafés and shops in Egypt: the till, the kitchen and delivery. If you're weighing the two, here are the facts side by side: where Odoo is stronger, where Ordrun is different, what each one does when the internet drops, and the prices each company publishes.

Last checked . This page is written by Ordrun, a competitor of Odoo. Odoo is a trademark of Odoo S.A., and the other product names on this page belong to their owners. Ordrun is not affiliated with Odoo or endorsed by it. Odoo facts come from odoo.com and Odoo's own published code.

The short version

Odoo is an ERP: accounting, inventory, purchasing, HR and a Point of Sale in one system, with a free open-source edition and 210 partners in Egypt. Ordrun does one job: the till, the kitchen and delivery for restaurants, at a published monthly price in Egyptian pounds. It has no accounting of its own and doesn't connect to Odoo.

  • Odoo probably fits better if you want the till, your accounts, purchasing and HR in one system, you already run Odoo, you need ETA e-invoicing, you serve tables and split bills, or you want delivery-app orders coming into the POS (through UrbanPiper, on Enterprise).
  • Ordrun Cloud probably fits better if you run a delivery brand with more than one branch, a call centre and your own drivers, and want a published monthly price: delivery starts with Growth at 2,900 EGP a month, with unlimited users.
  • Ordrun Lite probably fits better if you run one café, kiosk or minimarket, don't want a monthly bill, and can't count on your internet.

Where Odoo is stronger

Plainly, so you can decide well:

  • One system for the whole business: Odoo has Accounting, Invoicing, Inventory, Purchase, Employees and Payroll next to the POS. Accounting and Payroll are in the paid Enterprise edition. Ordrun has no accounting, purchasing or HR, and no link to any accounting system.
  • The Tax Authority: Odoo's Egypt localisation supports ETA e-invoicing. Each person who signs invoices needs their own USB key, and for a database hosted online, Odoo's Windows virtual IoT is the bridge. Odoo 20's own code also includes a module by Odoo S.A. called "Egypt E-Receipts (POS)" that submits POS receipts to the ETA. Odoo's Egypt docs page doesn't describe it yet, so ask a partner how it fits your case. Ordrun doesn't support ETA e-receipts yet.
  • Dine-in: a floor plan with live table status, merged tables, split bills, bookings, tips and courses. Ordrun Cloud has no table map, though it splits a payment across tenders; Ordrun Lite has tables and open tabs, and can merge or split a bill.
  • Self-ordering: QR menus, ordering and paying from the customer's phone, and kiosks, and the self-ordering module is in Odoo's open-source code too. Ordrun has no kiosk or table QR ordering.
  • Delivery apps: Odoo's docs list Talabat, Careem and Mrsool in Egypt through UrbanPiper. It needs Odoo Enterprise 18.0 or above, an UrbanPiper subscription and a reseller account with each platform. Ordrun has no link with any delivery app.
  • A free way in: One App Free gives one app with unlimited users on Odoo Online for US$0, and Odoo Community is open source. Ordrun has free trials, but no free plan.
  • Partners: Odoo lists 210 partners in Egypt (21 Gold, 57 Silver, 132 Ready) for local implementation. Ordrun is new and small, with no comparable record.

Where Ordrun is different

Not better at everything, but built around how a lot of Egyptian restaurants work:

  • A kitchen screen on every plan: the kitchen display comes with every Ordrun Cloud plan, Starter included, and the screens find the till over the branch network, so they keep receiving orders when the internet drops. In Odoo, the preparation display runs in a web browser and isn't in the free Community code; Odoo's offline section doesn't mention it either way, so test it before you rely on it.
  • Call centre and delivery in one system: agents find the customer by phone number and pick the branch and address, the delivery fee comes from zones you draw on a map, and the branch accepts or rejects. The Dispatch app assigns drivers and settles their cash. Zones and Dispatch come with Growth and above. Odoo's POS docs describe order presets such as Delivery, which can ask for the customer's address, and time slots for scheduling orders; we didn't find a call centre, map zones or driver dispatch in them.
  • A published monthly price in Egyptian pounds, with unlimited users on every plan: Starter is 1,800 EGP a month and Growth 2,900 EGP. Each plan covers a set number of branches and tills, and an extra one is a monthly add-on. Odoo charges per user per month in US dollars, and implementation isn't included in its plans.
  • Online payments through Flash, in Ordrun Cloud: card, e-wallets, InstaPay and Apple Pay, connected from the back office. Flash is an Egyptian payment app approved by the Central Bank of Egypt. In Ordrun Lite, card and wallet payments are recorded, not processed. To be fair, Odoo's docs list Paymob, an Egypt-based provider, for online payments, so ask an Odoo partner what works at your till.
  • Arabic first: Arabic is the default and English sits alongside. To be fair, Odoo has Arabic documentation and an Arabic translation of its POS; Odoo's own support desk answers by email in English, French, Spanish or Dutch.
  • A pay-once option: Ordrun Lite is a licence you pay for once, from 3,000 EGP, for one till that works with no internet at all. It runs on a Windows PC; for Android or iPad, ask us first.

Does Odoo POS work offline? What keeps working in each

Both keep selling when the internet drops, and both have limits. Here they are in each company's own words. Odoo's lines are quoted from its Point of Sale documentation, version 20.0.

  • Odoo: "During an internet outage, the POS switches to offline mode." Products and customers are loaded into the browser cache when a session starts, and orders made offline are stored there and "synced to the backend when the connection is restored."
  • Odoo's warning: "do not close or reload the browser, and do not clear the browser cache until the POS is back online and synced with the backend."
  • Not available offline in Odoo: generating invoices (they're created once the connection is back), registering customers, detailed product information, real-time stock sync, payment terminals and loading data on demand. "Devices connected to the local network, such as printers and scales, continue to work offline, as long as no changes are made to the local network"; connected payment terminals "do not work offline."
  • Ordrun Cloud: the till keeps selling and printing from the device, kitchen screens keep receiving orders over the branch network, and orders sync in order, without duplicates, when the connection returns. Promo codes, delivery and branch handover, and online payments wait for the connection.
  • Ordrun Lite: everything runs on the device, so an outage changes nothing.

Odoo prices in Egypt, and Ordrun's

These are Odoo's prices as odoo.com/pricing displayed them on 26 October 2026 to a visitor in Egypt: US dollars, per user, per month. The lower figure is a first-year discount, which Odoo says is "valid for 12 months, for initial users ordered"; the list price applies after that. It isn't like for like: Odoo's price is per user for a whole business suite, Ordrun's is a flat plan for the restaurant. We don't add up a "typical" Odoo bill, because the number of users, Light Users and partner fees change it a lot, so ask Odoo or a partner for a quote. Prices change; confirm them before you decide.

  • One App Free: US$0 for one app with unlimited users, on Odoo Online.
  • Standard (all apps, on Odoo Online): US$7.25 billed yearly or US$9.10 billed monthly in the first year; list price US$8.95 yearly or US$11.20 monthly.
  • Custom (adds Studio, multi-company, the external API and hosting beyond Odoo Online): US$13.40 yearly or US$16.90 monthly in the first year; list price US$16.40 or US$20.90.
  • Light User at US$2.90, for example for staff who only use the Point of Sale; Odoo quotes it after a meeting with an Odoo advisor.
  • Not in any plan: implementation. Odoo's Success Packs run from US$223.53 for 4 hours to US$8,000 for 200 hours, with 15% off a new customer's first pack, or you work with a partner.
  • Ordrun: Cloud from 1,800 EGP a month, Growth 2,900 EGP, with unlimited users on every plan; Lite from 3,000 EGP, paid once, with yearly support at 4,000 EGP optional.

Already using Odoo for accounting?

Ordrun doesn't connect to Odoo or to any accounting system: there's no sync and no API. What it has is reports that export to Excel or PDF. In Cloud, that's sales by day, sales by item, shift sales by drawer session, stock on hand and stock movements; in Lite, item sales and profit by category. Your accountant takes them from there and records them in Odoo. If you need every sale to land in Odoo's accounts automatically, Odoo's own POS fits better, because it's the same system.

Odoo or Foodics?

If you're comparing Odoo with Foodics, the first question is the same one: do you want one system for the whole company, or a till built for restaurants? Odoo is the first kind. Foodics describes itself as a "Cloud-based POS & restaurant management system", the second kind, like Ordrun. We compared Ordrun with Foodics separately, with the prices Foodics publishes for Egypt.

Moving from Odoo to Ordrun

No tool reads an Odoo export. You copy your menu into Ordrun's Excel template and upload it:

  • Cloud: one .xlsx file with categories and items, Arabic and English names, and sizes with their own prices. Every row is checked before anything is saved, and it's all or nothing: if one row is wrong, nothing is imported.
  • The import creates new items only. Modifiers, images and stock don't come with the file; you add them in the back office.
  • Lite: items come in from Excel with barcodes, wholesale prices, packs and opening stock, with a Pro or Premium licence, on Windows, and on Android if you run Lite there (ask us first), but not on iPad.
  • Try Cloud free for 30 days with no card, on plans with a trial, next to Odoo until you're sure.
  • If you'd like help with setup, moving your data or training, our team is there.

Frequently asked questions

Is Ordrun a good Odoo POS alternative for restaurants?

It depends on what you need Odoo for. If you want the till and your accounts in one system, Odoo fits better. If you need a restaurant till with a kitchen screen on every plan, a call centre, delivery zones and drivers, at a monthly price in Egyptian pounds, Ordrun is worth trying. For a single café or shop, Ordrun Lite is paid for once.

Is Odoo POS free?

It can be. Odoo's One App Free plan gives one app with unlimited users on Odoo Online for US$0, and Odoo Community, the open-source edition you host yourself, includes Point of Sale. Community leaves out Accounting, Odoo's hosting and its support, and some features, such as the UrbanPiper delivery-app link, need Enterprise. Ask Odoo which features your free setup includes.

How much does Odoo cost in Egypt?

On 26 October 2026, odoo.com showed a visitor in Egypt the Standard plan at US$7.25 per user a month billed yearly (US$9.10 billed monthly) for the first year, then US$8.95 (US$11.20). Custom was US$13.40 (US$16.90), then US$16.40 (US$20.90). Implementation is extra: Success Packs start at US$223.53, or you hire a partner. Check odoo.com for today's prices.

Does Odoo POS work offline?

Yes, within limits Odoo spells out. The POS switches to offline mode and keeps orders in the browser cache until the connection returns, so you mustn't close or reload the browser. Invoices, new customers, real-time stock and payment terminals wait; printers and scales on the local network keep working. Ordrun Cloud has its own limits, listed above, and Ordrun Lite runs fully offline.

Does Odoo connect to Talabat in Egypt? Does Ordrun?

Odoo's docs list Talabat, Careem and Mrsool in Egypt through UrbanPiper, on Odoo Enterprise 18.0 or above, with an UrbanPiper subscription and a reseller account with each platform. Ordrun has no link with Talabat or any delivery app. In Ordrun Cloud you can add an order type called Talabat and ring those orders into the till by hand, so the kitchen, the sales-by-order-type reports and, on plans with inventory, stock count them.

Can Ordrun send its sales into Odoo?

No. There's no Odoo integration, no API and no automatic sync. Ordrun's reports export to Excel or PDF for your accountant. If you need sales posted into Odoo automatically, use Odoo's own POS.

Odoo or Ordrun: which costs less?

It depends on your setup, and the two don't price the same thing. Odoo charges per user in US dollars for a whole business suite, with implementation on top. Ordrun Cloud starts at 1,800 EGP a month with unlimited users, and Growth, with delivery, is 2,900 EGP. Each Ordrun plan covers a set number of branches and tills, and an extra till or branch is a monthly add-on, so count yours. Get a quote for your team from Odoo or a partner and compare it with the plan you'd actually use. For a single shop, Ordrun Lite is a one-off licence from 3,000 EGP.

Can I move my menu from Odoo to Ordrun?

Yes, through Ordrun's Excel template, not an Odoo file. Copy your categories and items into the template and upload it; every row is checked before anything is saved. Modifiers, images and stock don't come across. Our team can help with setup and training.
